Statement jewelry, particularly bold, colorful earrings were the biggest trend seen on the Emmy Awards red carpet on Sunday, September 20th.
But the trend wasn’t exclusive to movie stars on the Emmy red carpet. A return to bold earrings, reminiscent of the eighties, that accent the face were also seen on the 2015 Fall Fashion runways. Designers like Prada, Giorgio Armani and Missoni went all out with bold, graphic earring designs. Balmain’s sliced agate earrings were a favorite—expect to see agate stone earring interpretations in every style and price point.
While women traditionally wear their hair up to further show off their exquisite earrings, all Emmy actresses elected to wear their hair down in a softer, more feminine way. Light, natural waves just slightly styled back around the ears subtly highlighted the gorgeous earrings they wore.
This is definitely a trend all women can jump on. The bolder, the better. And once you get bored with such statement pieces, you can always pawn your jewelry.
Some of the best earring trends on Sunday’s Emmy Awards red carpet included:
Sarah Hyland of Modern Family, in a monochromatic, coordinated head to toe look. Sarah wore a Zac Posen gown with deep merlot-toned Lorraine Schwartz chandelier earrings.
Emmy Award winner and American Crime actress Regina King wore bold chandelier earrings by Leeza Braun for Leo Schachter dazzling photographers with the 24 karats of yellow and white diamonds with a price tag of $75,000.
Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi was gorgeous in a gold gown and sported diamond-studded drop pendant earrings by Fred Leighton.
Julie Bowen of The Modern Family went for matching jewelry and chose Monica Vinader’s gala cocktail earrings and ring in green aventurine with diamonds.
Niecy Nash of the HBO series Getting On wore diamond and white gold earrings by Simon G. that were long enough to nearly graze her shoulders.
Emmy winner Julia Louis-Dreyfus wore the bold earring trend the best in stunning Chopard platinum earrings with nearly 28 karats of diamonds that contrasted her dark hair and black dress beautifully.
Orange is the New Black’s Selenis Leyva wore a pair of Davani by A&D Gem earrings set with 48 karats of black diamonds and nearly 4 karats of round white diamonds.
Actress Sarah Paulson of The American Horror Story: Freak Show wore edgy white gold and diamond long dome drop earrings by Jennifer Meyer.
Taylor Schilling of The Orange is the New Black Niwaka Hanakago collection earrings featured white gold, diamonds and exotic tsavorite, blue sapphire and green agate.
Actresses brought out the major bling for the red carpet, but the bold earring trend can be worn every day. Leave the diamonds and precious stones for evening galas and special events and wear shoulder-grazing earrings or structural, bold patterns in mate-rials like tassels, metals and turquoise stones. When selecting the right oversized, bold earrings, look for lightweight beads and resins that have the same effect in a more comfortable way.
The large earring trend is feminine and perfectly self-indulgent. The right pair of ear candy is eye-catching and frames your face, so add a pair of bold earrings to your look.
