What is Gold Filled? Gold Filled is not the same as gold plated! Gold filled has much more gold in it. Gold filled, or rolled gold, is where heat and pressure is used to bond 12 or 14 karat gold to a core of brass. It is much more durable than gold plate and will not flake or peel when bent, hammered or heated.
Gold filled jewelry is a lot more valuable than gold plated because it has more gold in it. The surface is totally covered with gold. Since the surface is all gold, it doesn't tarnish or discolor. Gold filled jewelry is economical too. You can get the rich look of real gold for a fraction of the cost of solid gold.
