Is it safe to wear your jewelry items while swimming in a pool or the ocean?
All of our jewelry is crafted with only the best materials. All metals are .925 sterling silver or gold filled. All beads are glass or crystal. We use only genuine Fresh Water Pearls and our faux pearls are crystal.
We do not advised wearing any type of jewelry while swimming in the ocean because your jewelry may slip off and get lost! The salt water may also cause your jewelry to tarnish.
To keep you jewelry shiny and bright, we suggest rinsing it with clear clean tap water and drying with a soft cloth after swimming in a chlorinated pool.

What is Gold Filled and how should I care for it?
If you love the look and feel of gold jewelry, Gold Filled is a fabulous alternative to purchasing solid gold. With a thick layer of gold against your skin, it is a joy both visually and in price.
Gold Filled jewelry is the latest introduction into the gold jewelry market. Gold prices have gone up, making the purchase of solid gold jewelry a very costly investment. Gold Filled offers an economical alternative, while giving little up in quality. Cared for properly, gold filled jewelry lasts beautifully.
Gold Filled jewelry has a layer of 10Kt or better gold mechanically bonded under heat & pressure to one or more surfaces of supporting base metal, then rolled or drawn to a given thickness. In the jewelry industry the quantity of gold must be at least 1/20th by weight of the total product. Under FTC (Federal Trade Commission) regulations, a product may be marked as 14, 12 or 10Kt Gold-Filled. Karat measurement of the gold content MUST be part of the marking or designation.
Beware of items offered as simply 'Gold-Filled' rather than 14Kt Gold-Filled or 10 or 12Kt Gold-Filled when trying to compare prices!)
The finished product thus has a surface layer of gold of the appropriate karatage, which is very thick compared to rolled gold plate or the heaviest electroplate ( = gold plated) material. These are minimum standards. Thus one might find 14/20GF or even 14/10GF as a stamp to denote 1/20 14KT Gold-Filled or 1/10 14KT Gold-Filled.
Gold-Filled items are generally considered life-time products, and the gold layer will not quickly wear off, as it will in electroplated products. TrinitysJewelry.com uses only 14KT Gold Filled - 14/20GF for all of our gold jewelry.
Care of Gold Filled Jewelry
Gold filled jewelry is cared for in the same manner as other precious jewelry. The absolutely best thing you can do for your Gold Filled jewelry is to clean regularly using a little bit of warm water, and a soft cloth to dry and shine after. Many chemicals marketed for cleaning jewelry are actually somewhat abrasive or corrosive and can cause some damage or color alteration to your jewelry. The best way to avoid this is to keep it simple. Warm water and a soft cloth are the best thing you can do to maintain the beauty of your jewelry.
How long will my Gold Filled jewelry last?
Under normal wearing conditions, and with proper care, your gold filled jewelry can last a lifetime. It does not chip or peel easily as gold plated jewelry does. Heavy wear and rough conditions will of course impact how your jewelry looks. This is true no matter what your jewelry is made of.
Things to avoid with your jewelry
To maintain the beauty of your jewelry, whether it is gold filled or solid gold, salt water, chlorine (swimming pools) and all heavy detergents and cleaning agents should be avoided.

What exactly is sterling silver jewelry (or 925 sterling silver)?
Silver, even that has been fully work-hardened, gradually recrystallizes and softens at room temperature. To maintain hardness, other metals are added to form alloys that are harder, stronger, and less susceptible to scratching and marring. The best-known copper-silver alloy is sterling, which is 92.5 percent silver and 7.5 percent copper (hence the name 925 sterling silver).

How should I care for my Sterling Silver Jewelry?
Sterling silver will tarnish. This is not a defect, but the result of a natural chemical process that occurs when sterling silver is exposed to chemicals in the air. Other common tarnish causing elements are wool, rubber bands, and latex gloves. Humid environments will accelerate tarnishing.
Preventative maintenance is the easiest way to keep your sterling silver looking great. Avoid exposing your sterling silver jewelry to direct sunlight, harsh chemicals like chlorine, cosmetics, hair spray, perfume, and perspiration, and store your jewelry wrapped in a soft cloth in an anti-tarnish bag. If you don't have an anti-tarnish bag, small "zip-loc" style bags work--be sure to squeeze all the air out of the bag before sealing. Store your jewelry away from bright lights or heat.
Chlorine, saltwater, mineral springs or suntan lotion may cause discoloration. This form of tarnishing is only on the surface; it can be cleaned with a sterling silver jewelers cloth. Washing your jewelry periodically with mild dish soap and warm water is a quick, easy way to prevent tarnishing; (I wear mine in the shower). Soap and water will also help keep your silver looking good. Besure to rinse well and dry completely with a soft cloth before storing. Remember not to dry silver off with anything but a soft cloth. Avoid paper towels ortissues.
Polish your jewelry regularly using a non-abrasive sterling silver jewelers cloth. Frequent light polishing with a cloth designed for use on sterling silver will also help minimize tarnish. Tarnish is easily removed when first noticed (generally a yellowish tint) but will become more difficult to remove as it turns brown and eventually black, requiring professional cleaning and/or harsher chemicals that can harm your jewelry.
The polishes and cleaners listed here can be found in your local hardware store, department store, pharmacy, or listed distributors. 3M's Terni-Shield Silver Polish and Twinkle Silver Polish are by far the least abrasive of the commercial cleaners, and Terni-Shield has a much more effective tarnish barrier than Twinkle. Goddard s Long Shine Silver Polish and Silver Wash, and Wright's Anti-Tarnish Silver Polish and Silver Cream (this product offers no tarnish protection) are all recommended in removing heavier tarnish and residue. If the choice is between a polish that protects better but is more abrasive, and one that does not protect as well but is far less abrasive, go with the less abrasive polish. Polishes that are meant to be washed off are less abrasive because they use a liquid to suspend the polishing ingredients.
Silver is a highly reflective metal and enjoys a high polish! It is also an extremely soft metal and may scratch or dent easily. Don't use polishes that have dried-up; the abrasive particles are now much too concentrated and will harm your silver. Never use steel wool (too abrasive and rust may result if not fully rinsed from the interior of an abject), Scotch-Brite and scouring pads (too abrasive), or dips (too toxic).
Care for your jewelry and keep it sparkling with this essential set featuring the Connoisseurs' Polishing Cloth, 8-oz. Delicate Jewelry Cleaner, 8-oz. Standard Jewelry Cleaner and 7-oz. Silver Jewelry Cleaner. The Delicate solution is great for everyday jewelry, also restoring luster to opal, coral, onyx, turquoise, pearl and other semiprecious stones. Standard is safe for diamonds, precious stones, platinum and gold jewelry.

What is Vermeil?
Vermeil or vermeille (pronounced either ver-meel' or ver-MAY') is gold-plating process developed in France in the mid-1700s. Early-day vermeil involved the use of mercury. Modern-day vermeil is produced by a safe electrolytic process. The inside core is sterling silver and the outside is a coating of gold. Gold plate adheres OK, but not perfectly to silver. Where the plating has not bonded, the silver will tarnish underneath the plating. On the gold-plated surface, this will appear as dark, blotchy spots. The gold-plate will darken over time, and will eventually wear off. On highly decorated surfaces such as Bali beads, the irregular darkening adds an antique effect to the piece. If you are mixing vermeil and gold-filled pieces together, remember that the vermeil will darken, but the gold-filled will not.

What is mother-of-pearl (MOP)?
Mother-of-pearl is the lining of a shell. It is usually the same color, composition and quality as the pearls that were produced by the particular mollusk. Mother-of-pearl is often used in sterling silver jewelry because of its regal and sophisticated look.

What are Bali beads? What's the difference between Bali silver and sterling silver?
Strictly speaking, Bali beads are silver beads produced in Bali, Indonesia. These beads are handmade (not cast) with unique design and intricate detail. Because of its popularity, more countries are now producing this type of beads. Therefore, the term "Bali beads" is now generally referring to "Bali-style beads". Bali Silver usually has less than 92.5% silver content hence cannot be designated as sterling. When buying Bali beads, one should always look for handmade Bali beads (vs. the cheap cast ones). Handmade Bali beads are far more superior in quality, giving more value to your jewelry.

What is CZ (Cubic Zirconia)?
CZ looks very similar to diamond and usually hard to distinguish the difference with the naked eye. CZ has many characteristics like diamond but at a fraction of the cost. CZ is slightly less brilliance (liveliness and sparkle) than diamonds, while having more fire (flashes of rainbow colors). CZ has a scientific hardness rating of 8.5 (vs. Diamond 10) on the Mohs' scale, hence can scratch glass (hardness 6~7). CZ is about 75% heavier than diamond and comes in variety of colors. High Quality CZ is machine cut to exacting tolerances that duplicates the diamond-cutting process. Main sources of CZ are United States, Switzerland, Thailand and China.
